Course Objectives

In this course, comparison between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine is made based on diagnostics.  First of all, the Western therapeutics includes internal medicine, radiology, and surgery; meanwhile, those of TCM have acupuncture, moxibuation and herbology. The drugs of former school have become synthetic that usually do not have optical activity.  Humans usually cannot digest and absorb, and sometimes may inhibit the normal physiological functions. As to radiology, it may also hurt the normal tissues of the body. So far as the surgery is concerned, the interest of surgeons have turned to organ transplant. As a result, more operations have been performed and some of them are not necessary. On the other hand, the therapeutics of TCM have become more effective and economic that are worth promoting.
